A Cloak for the Dreamer

When the night seems cold and lonely, my child
it is easy to lose your way
through black fractal rainbows the nightmares rush in
and raise in your head such a horrible din --
before you decide it's a game you can't win
remember what I have to say:

When the night seems cold and lonely, my child
I will give you a piece of my heart
to spread between you and the legions of fear
to remind in the dark of the brightness of cheer
and wipe away quick every last dreamers tear
and make darkest deamons depart

When the night seems cold and lonely, my child
remember you're never alone
between you and me is a strong bond of love
given to us by the one high above
who brings us the peace of a sheltering dove --
you can always find your way home.
